Kanoodle Ramping up to Compete

Kanoodle Ramping Up To Compete
Kanoodle has announced that they plan to introduce a service similar to Google’s in which advertisers can pay to have ads placed on category pages related to the products they sell.

In an effort to compete with Google and Overture’s targeted sponsored listings, Kanoodle has hired former employees of Sprinks (now owned by Google) to help build the new product.

As mentioned above, the new advertising type will be based on pre-defined categories (which is similar to Google’s targeted AdWords). The difference is that Google is using technology it has purchased (Applied Semantics) to help determine which ads should be placed on which pages, while the Kanoodle listings will be based on the categories. These listings will be displayed on pages which relate to the categories, therefore advertisers will be allowed to choose which categories their ads will fall into.

In addition to the new advertising product, Kanoodle has also announced that they have secured additional venture financing to help with their expansion plans.
