How to Recover After Google Removes Your Site From its Index

There is nothing worse for a website looking to expand than being removed from the Google Index. If your site has been removed and you have absolutely no clue why this happened and how to recover from this onslaught, this article is for you.

Before we move and we tell you how to recover from Google’s snub, lets review what Google probably told you when they removed from the index.

“Your page was manually removed from our index, because it did not conform to the quality standards necessary to assign accurate Page Rank. We will not comment on the individual reasons a page was removed and we do not offer an exhaustive list of practices that can cause removal. However, certain actions such as cloaking, writing text that can be seen by search engines but not by users, or setting up pages/links with the sole purpose of fooling search engines may result in permanent removal from our index. If you think your site may fall into this category, you might try ‘cleaning up’ the page and sending a re-inclusion request to help@google.com. We do not make any guarantees about if or when we will re-include your site.”

Yes, that means what it reads. Only Google will be able to tell you exactly why your site is being removed from the index. Moreover, Google is too busy to actually give you an answer, if you are still wondering. The only thing that can be done is get whatever info you can on the points of violation and analyze your website with regards to the same.

Now to the part where you learn what to do once Google has removed you from its site index. Firstly, do not panic. Sometimes, people just worry they have been removed from the Google index forever. More often than not, it is a false alarm. They just have low rankings. However, if you are sure about having been removed and got the above notification from Google, read on.

An ideal thing to do after having been removed from Google’s index is to send an email to Google requesting to be re-included. Before that, it is advisable to sign-up for Google webmaster tools and uses it to identify problems. Once the problems have been identified, work on fixing the problems and use the tools again and again until all the problems have been rectified. Then, if your problem still has not been rectified, mail Google.

Modifying your site to suit the guidelines and resubmitting it for reconsideration is the best bet.
